2004 Season - Week 5

Trading Day 1.

Cheryl and Johnny changed 3 players each while 6 owners stood pat. Of the 16 players changed 9 were receivers but the 2 best moves were probably the Franchise QB’s that John and Cheryl changed. John dropped benched Bucc Brad Johnson and picked up Pittsburgh rookie Ben Roethlisberger who ran for 1 TD and passed for another score. Cheryl cut injured Steeler Tommy Maddox and took San Diego’s Drew Brees who threw 2 TD’s yesterday lifting his season total to 1 rushing TD and 8 passing. To pay for a new QB she cut KC coach Vermeil ($1m) and replaced him with $0.5m Steeler coach Bill Cowher. It’s good to have Chinny back in the BUMS. Dave G get’s another week. Due to a bout of flu, first pick Dave G was unable to join the trades and it was agreed he would be allowed to make changes this week. I’ll contact him later in the week and let you know his week 6 changes next week. Week 4 Horror Show As reported last week we needed 33 points from Monday nights game to avoid the second lowest weekly score ever. Well we got... 33 which meant we scored 1 point more than the 2001 week 6 total of 273 points when the 16 owners averaged 17.06 points. The lowest average came in 1998 when 13 owners scored just 194 points for a 14.9 average. Let’s not be proud, we averaged a pathetic 17.13 points per owner. Across the first 4 weeks of the season we have scored 402, 418, 401and 274 points. The All-Time Leading Points Scorer. Johnny’s 9 months of misery are complete. He hasn’t won the BUMS since 1995 and last January was relegated. The start to this season has been injury plagued and Johnny is currently outside the Promotion Zone. Now his final claim to fame - the oft quoted “All-Time Leading Points Scorer” has gone. His current total of 4,216 was surpassed this weekend as Chief moved past him by 1 point. Chief’s season average is 455.89 second to Wayne who in 3 and a quarter season average is 484.92. Monday Night Football. We are at H’s at 6:00pm on Tuesday to watch a crucial game for both Tennessee and Green Bay at Lambeau Field. Neither team can afford to drop to 1 win and 4 losses. If you want to join us let him know as H is doing food.
